This page is about the end of the supply chain. We have spent seven chapters on the animal, the fiber, and the art of raising it. This one is about what happens when the fleece finally leaves the altiplano and is turned into something someone can wear.
What we offer
We work directly with weavers and knitters based in and around Cusco, most of whom have been producing alpaca garments for decades — many for generations. Every piece in our catalog is made from Peruvian alpaca fiber, sorted and graded to a specification we set. We do not use acrylic blends. We do not substitute sheep wool into pieces labeled alpaca. The supply chain is short and traceable.
The catalog spans six broad categories:
The full catalog, with photographs, grades, colors, measurements, and pricing, is shared by email. To receive it, write to [email protected].
Ponchos & ruanas
The poncho is the iconic Andean garment. Rectangular, with a slit for the head, it drapes from the shoulders and functions as coat, blanket, and windbreak simultaneously. The traditional Peruvian poncho is woven on a backstrap loom or pedal loom from a warp of strong alpaca yarn and a weft that carries the color patterns.
We offer three lines:
- Classic heavy poncho. 100% alpaca, backstrap-woven, natural undyed colors, traditional chakana or ñawi motifs. Heaviest and warmest. Ideal for cold, dry winters.
- Lightweight reversible. Finer yarn, looser weave, two-color design with contrasting reverse side. Easier to layer.
- Ruana. Open front (no head slit), worn like an open cape. Modern cut, often in solid colors, easy to pair with urban wardrobes.
All ponchos are available in Baby Alpaca and Superfine grades. Royal Alpaca ponchos are produced on order only.
Scarves & shawls
The scarf is the single most popular category we ship — the easiest entry point into alpaca. Scarves come in three weights:
- Lightweight scarf / stole — 30 × 180 cm, often Suri fiber for drape and lustre, intended for cool rather than cold weather.
- Medium scarf — 40 × 200 cm, the all-purpose winter piece, Huacaya Baby Alpaca.
- Heavy shawl / wrap — 60 × 220 cm, substantial, often with fringe, for very cold weather or as a blanket-scarf hybrid.
We offer scarves in solid colors, stripes, and traditional patterned weaves. Custom colors available on orders of 20+ pieces.
Sweaters & cardigans
Our knit line covers pullovers, cardigans, and zip-fronts, in sizes XS through XXL for both men and women. Production is largely on flat-bed knitting machines operated by small cooperative workshops; finishing, hand-linking, and final inspection are manual.
Available constructions:
- Single-ply Baby Alpaca knit. The lightest warm sweater you will wear — about 350 grams in a men's medium.
- Double-ply Superfine knit. Heavier, more structured, holds its shape for decades.
- Chunky hand-knit in rustic yarn — produced by hand-knitters in highland villages. Each one takes 40 to 60 hours.
Design library spans traditional Andean yoke patterns, modern minimalist solids, geometric colorwork, and cable knits. Custom designs available on orders of 30+ pieces.
Blankets & throws
Alpaca blankets are, arguably, the best value in the catalog. They are heavy, almost indestructible, warm enough to sleep under in a tent at altitude, and they last for generations. Standard sizes:
- Throw — 130 × 180 cm — couch or chair size
- Single bed — 160 × 220 cm
- Double / queen — 200 × 240 cm
- King — 230 × 260 cm
We produce both handwoven blankets — traditional patterns, textured surface, significant weight — and machine-loomed jacquard pieces in more contemporary designs. Both use 100% alpaca fiber.
Hats, gloves, socks, and smaller pieces
The everyday end of the catalog. Chullos (the Andean earflap hat, instantly recognizable), beanies, gloves, fingerless mitts, socks, leg warmers, headbands. Most are knit by the same workshops that produce the sweaters, using offcut yarn batches from larger production runs — which is why this category comes in a less-predictable color mix but at the best price per piece.
Socks deserve special mention. Alpaca socks are warmer than wool, they wick moisture better than most synthetics, and — because alpaca fiber is smooth — they are considerably less itchy. For anyone who has ever avoided wool socks on skin-sensitivity grounds, alpaca is usually the answer.
Exclusive & custom pieces
Outside the main catalog we work with a small number of master weavers on one-off pieces: large wall hangings, bespoke ponchos, ceremonial textiles, and commissioned artworks. These are priced individually, take weeks to months to produce, and are typically ordered by interior designers, galleries, or private collectors. Write to us with a brief and we will respond with a timeline and estimate.
Wholesale and white-label
We supply wholesale orders for retail stores, design houses, and private-label brands. Minimum order quantities vary by category (typically 20–50 pieces). Samples, custom branding, and hang-tag options are all available. Write to [email protected] with your specifications.
Our process
- Source. Fiber is bought directly from cooperative herds in the Cusco and Puno highlands. We pay for graded fleece, which incentivizes good husbandry upstream.
- Mill. Fiber goes to spinning mills in Arequipa or Cusco — Peruvian mills are the global benchmark for camelid fiber processing.
- Weave or knit. Finished yarn goes to weavers and knitters in Cusco province, mostly small family workshops and cooperatives.
- Finish and inspect. Every piece is hand-finished, inspected, labeled, and packed in our Cusco workshop.
- Ship. Orders ship from Cusco via tracked international courier — typically 5 to 12 business days to Europe and North America, depending on destination.
How to order
We do not currently operate a public e-commerce site. All orders are handled personally by email. This is deliberate: it lets us advise on grade selection, confirm stock of specific colors and sizes, handle customization, and — for wholesale buyers — work through details that a shopping cart cannot.
To start:
- Write to us at [email protected] — in English or Spanish.
- Tell us what you are interested in: a specific category, a wholesale order, a custom commission, or just the full catalog.
- We reply within one business day with a curated catalog (full PDF), pricing, available colors and sizes, and shipping estimate for your destination.
